Panaseca Name Design

A startup in Silicon Valley came to me to develop a name for their new company. The two owners – a pair of doctors – created software for consumers that would allow them check for eyes for strain accumulated while working on a computer. The software, in turn, would make suggestions to alleviate that strain based the data gathered.

After weeks of discussion, I reviewed Latin and Greek words at the root level, I reserached the ocular/medical industry, and I checked for trademark issues related to the names I had developed. After presenting dozens of names, the entreprenuers chose “Panaseca.”

Panaseca loosely translates to “Dry Friend” in several Latin cultures. The product the company now offers has changed from a home computer peripheral to a vision test kiosk to be located in public locations. In spite of the change in product offering, the company name remained appropriate.
